Soak Up The Rebates
Incentives make it a great time to renovate your bathroom

We all know that bathrooms are considered to be a good place to put your money when it comes to adding equity to your home. With the recent tax credit for home renovations, now has become an even better time to create the bathroom you have always wanted. After all, this is one room you are guaranteed to use several times a day, every day you are in your home. But what are your options?
The bathroom is no longer just a room for the daily necessities of life. It has become a spa, a retreat, a haven ‘far from the madding crowd’. Spend an hour in a well appointed showroom like Mondeau, in Kanata at 20 Edgewater St., or in Ottawa East at 1282 Algoma Rd., and you’ll quickly realise that those ‘daily routines’ can become a lot more pleasurable.
Perhaps a walk-in shower is more your style. Or a steam shower that also functions like a sauna. You don’t need to have a tub in every bathroom if you don’t use one every day, but if a good soak is still your thing, then why not the equivalent of an indoor hot tub, or invigorating whirlpool? You can choose from the vast array of built-in or free-standing models that can conjure up the atmosphere of a Victorian home, or that fit your contemporary lifestyle.
Close your eyes and dream of standing in a warm tropical rain, as the sensation of a true overhead rain shower washes away the fatigue and the cobwebs first thing in the morning. Or let a bank of pulsating body jets (the full ‘car wash’ as we call it) relax those tired muscles at the end of the day. All this to the sound of your favourite Jazz CD or Puccini aria, emanating from the built-in speakers. Get clean with your favourite ‘soap’ opera playing on the video screen as you soak in total privacy, seemingly miles away from the real world. Or the flicker of the built-in fireplace reflecting off of the water in front of you. The perfect setting for the two of you to enjoy that bottle of champagne you’ve been keeping in the fridge.
Any way you go, it’s easy to see how the bathroom can become a centre for personal well-being. Maybe it’s time for the kids to be complaining about how much time YOU are spending in the bathroom, and for you to feel special about being at home.
